The BetConnect team make their Premier League predictions ahead of the new season

It’s that time of year again. The BetConnect trading team have given their Premier League predictions ahead of the 2020/21 season, including tips for the title, top four, relegation, and more.

Just over a month since the 2019/20 campaign concluded, it’s time to do it all again. The new Premier League season kicks off this weekend – and it promises to be a good one.

Liverpool are bidding to secure back-to-back titles after 30 years without one, although Manchester City will surely have other ideas. Chelsea have been busy in the transfer window and fans will no doubt expect them to build on their top four finish under Frank Lampard last term. Leeds, West Brom and Fulham meanwhile, were all promoted from the Championship, with the former back in the top flight for the first time in 16 years.

Fulham and Arsenal will get the new season underway with a lunchtime London derby at Craven Cottage on Saturday. So ahead of the new campaign, the BetConnect trading team have given their verdict on how the next nine months will play out. They’ve even picked out some big-price selections for you to consider.

Who’s got it right and who’s got it horribly wrong? Let us know your 2020/21 Premier League predictions on Twitter @BetConnect.

PREMIER LEAGUE PREDICTIONS 2020/21

Liverpool (C) – Man City – Man Utd – Chelsea

West Brom – Aston Villa – Brighton

EAMONN, TRADING DIRECTOR

Champions

Liverpool @ 9/4 Each Way 1/3 1-2
“Having posted 99 and 97 points in the last two seasons the level of consistency has been phenomenal. They have finished 27 and 33 points clear of third place the last two seasons so the each way element of the bet looks fantastic value.”

Top Four

Liverpool (C) – Man City – Chelsea – Man Utd

Relegation

Aston Villa – Newcastle – Crystal Palace

Newcastle @ 5/2
“They were low scorers last season and they will have to score more this season to avoid being involved in the relegation battle. Their position in the table last season flattered them according to the expected goal data so a lot will rest on new recruit Callum Wilson to hit a double figure goal tally.”

Golden Boot

Richarlison @ 80/1 Each Way 1/3 1-4
“This market has been one to look at the bigger priced selections over the years. Salah 66/1 winner Ings 250/1 2nd , Vardy 500/1 2nd, Kane 200/1 2nd. With that in mind im looking to Richarlson who scored 13 last season. Sigurdson missed 3 of his 5 penalties last season and if Richarlison could get on those he would be a live runner.”

Surprise Selection

Under 1020 season total goals @ 8/1
“This season could be an outlier statistically due to lack of full crowds or the potential stop start nature or even a reduced season. This is a good way to play this angle as you are betting under 2.68 goals per game which has happened 3 of the last 12 seasons.”

HARVEY, TRADER

Top Four

Liverpool (C) – Man City – Chelsea – Spurs

Spurs @ 7/2
“Jose Mourinho has proved he is the second-season master throughout his career. They were one of the best performing teams after the return of football and 7/2 seems a great price for them to make the top 4 next season.”

Relegation

West Ham – West Brom – Fulham

West Ham @ 9/2
“Although they survived relegation relatively comfortably in the end, they got away with a few big results. Form is temporary but class (or the lack thereof) is permanent. I don’t see them keeping up the pace for the whole season.”

Golden Boot

Timo Werner @ 12/1 Each Way 1/4 1-4
“Backing a newcomer for Premier League Golden Boot is always a dangerous idea. But a proven goal machine in the Bundesliga and linking up with an array of chance creators Chelsea have brought in, 12/1 is free money.”

Surprise Selection

Next Manager to Leave Post – Brendan Rodgers @ 25/1
“After 16 games last season Leicester sat second in the table with the best goal difference in the league – 14 points clear of fifth-placed Man Utd. Another two or three matches at the end and Leicester could have missed out on Europe. If this dismal form continues the higher powers may waste no time looking for a new manager to turn it around, with some high profile names on the market.”

JIMMY, TRADER

Top Four

Liverpool (C) – Man City – Man Utd – Arsenal

Arsenal @ 11/4
“The Gunners have done some really smart business this transfer window, including the signing of centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille, a highly rated 22-year-old who attracted a lot of interest from the top clubs. They have also signed Premier League proven Willian from top four rivals Chelsea. Speaking of Chelsea, the reason I like the Arsenal price so much is because the 1/2 about Chelsea looks too short. Abramovich has certainly splashed the cash on some big players, but it won’t be easy for Lampard to get them all playing their best football in their first season in England.”

Relegation

West Brom – Fulham – Crystal Palace

Surprise Selection

PFA Player of the Year – Sadio Mane @ 20/1
“20/1 is way too big for a player who is arguably the most important in Liverpool’s side. Mane has scored 40 goals over the past two seasons, and is bound to be right up there in the golden boot race again this year. He’s in the prime of his career, at the reigning Champions, and I think this will be his best season yet.”

IAN, TRADER

Top Four

Man City (C) – Liverpool – Man Utd – Wolves

Wolves @ 13/2
This largely depends whether they manage to keep hold of star striker Raul Jimenez with some of Europe biggest sharks circling, but I see him sticking around in the midlands for another season. Without the distraction of European football and with yet more young Portuguese talent on their books, it promises to be a fantastic season at Molineux.

Relegation

West Brom – Fulham – Brighton

Surprise Selection

First Manager To Leave Post – Jose Mourinho @ 33/1
“Last minute qualification for the Europa League at the end of last season papered over the cracks of what was a mediocre campaign. Results picked up slightly under Mourinho but the standard of football left a lot to be desired. An indifferent start to the new season along with Jose’s usual grumpy demeanour will see Daniel Levy itching to use his trigger finger by mid-November.”
